Need help with what to say? Utilize 5 Calls to help you formulate your stance and keep track of your calls.

Website: https://5calls.org/   (also has an app for iPhone/Android)

5 Calls makes it easy for you to reach your members of Congress and make your voice heard. 5 Calls researches issues and provides quick and easy scripts that clearly articulate a progressive position, figures out the most influential decision-makers, and collects phone numbers for their offices. All you have to do is call and read the prompt.

2. Keep up with the news. As hard as it may seem to read the daily horrors that are happening by the minute, it is important to stay vigilant and informed.  Here are a few resources and sources that the DWA recommends. Each can be accessed for free, but also offer a suggestion subscription ($5):

- Letters From an American by Heather Cox Richardson - Her daily newsletter relates the history behind today's politics.

- Hopium Chronicles by Simon Rosenberg - Expert commentary from a 30-year veteran of US politics. Hopium works on strategies to defeat MAGA, tell our story more effectively, and ensure freedom and democracy prevail.

- Today's Edition Newsletter by Robert B. Hubbell - A reflection on today's news through the lens of hope.

- Chop Wood, Carry Water by Jessica Craven - This weekday newsletter gives you easy, effective political actions to take to stave off despair, effect positive change and elect more true public servants.

State Chapters of grassroots organizations to follow:

- Common Cause North Carolina - Common Cause works across North Carolina on priorities that impact each of our lives—like defending the right to vote, making our government more accountable, promoting transparency, and more.

- Indivisible Watauga - Brought together by a practical guide to resist the Trump agenda, Indivisible is a movement of thousands of group leaders and more than a million members taking regular, iterative, and increasingly complex actions to resist the GOPs agenda, elect local champions, and fight for progressive policies.

3. Join our monthly gatherings! Our group meets the third Thursday of each month at 6:00pm at the Ashe County Democratic Headquarters. ALL are welcome. Participate in planning more ways to register our resistance, and to learn about positive actions you can join here at home, Ashe County.  We have to stand strong, grow our numbers, and communicate with each other and our representatives. We are stronger together.
