Ashe Food Pantry

Ashe Food Pantry plays a crucial role in addressing community needs by providing essential food assistance. The pantry serves as a vital resource for individuals and families facing food insecurity in the Ashe County area.

With a focus on ensuring that no one goes hungry, Ashe Food Pantry offers a variety of food items to those in need. Through its dedicated efforts, the pantry contributes to fostering a stronger and more resilient community by addressing the fundamental requirement of access to nutritious food.

Requirements: In order to be a client of the Ashe Food Pantry, the client must provide a photo I.D. during their initial visit. If the I.D. does not have an Ashe County address, another proof of residency is required such as a phone bill, power bill, doctor bill, or lease.  In order to pick up food for another person, the pick-up person would need to present themselves the first time with their photo I.D. They would then be qualified and added to the roster of clients. On subsequent visits food could be released with a written directive from the person requesting their food to be picked up.

Ashe Food Pantry Programs include:

Operation Backpack:  During the school year, healthy backpacks go home through the school each week through our partnership with Ashe County Middle School, Mountain View Elementary, Westwood Elementary and the Nest Alliance. Contact your child’s teacher or school counselor for details.

The Wilkes Community College Prowler Pantry offers “grab and go” options that students may access easily as a quick lunch, a snack between classes, or to take home for later.  In addition, more substantial foods are offered to help with food for the weekend and evening meals.

The Mountaineer Pantry’s purpose is to take food to our neighbors in the outlying parts of the county. This is a one-time monthly distribution. If you are interested in learning more about the pantry or becoming a client of the Mountain Pantry please contact us at AsheFoodPantry@skybest.com.

The Ashe Hospital Pantry  Stocked with healthy food options, the pantry provides easy access to nutritional assistance for those who may need it as they are discharged from Ashe Memorial Hospital.
